TitleRN-Operating Room ManagerFull-time Various HoursLocationNE-Kearney-Good Samaritan Hospital Job Summary The Clinical Manager will supervise the daily clinical activity of the department in partnership with surgeonssterile processinganesthesiamaterials management and the operations managerThe Clinical Manager will support the Director and the Co-management committee by taking accountability for the effectivecompetent and efficient delivery of patient care in the operating suites Essential Duties Operational duties Provides leadership and direction for the staff assuming daily responsibility for coordinate and monitoring utilization of personnelHe she will work with the Director and Board Coordinator to validate effective staffing for cases but will understand and work toward meeting Solucient staffing ratiosPlans for staffing needs on a long and short-term basis utilizing approved systems of management and adjusting based on workload and other staffing variables to maintain safeefficient care in an effective mannerPrepares staff schedules and assignments and insures accurate time reports are submitted per hospital policyResponds to physicianstaffprovider and patient satisfaction needsidentifies and implements solutions in collaboration with related department swith awareness of Co-management and organizational goalsWorks with the Perioperative Management Team to identify and implement operational goals to best meet the needs of the organizations patientsproviders and staffActively supports initiatives and work of other departments Works in partnership with fellow managers to contribute to and support their work including financial planningcapital identificationand instrument needs and processes Is aware of and supportive of organizational stewardship and process improvement initiatives representing the department when necessary and manages implementation in the department towards the best outcomesClinical supervisionIn collaboration with director interviews potential staff members and recommends hiring of applicants with appropriate behavior and skillsCounsels and coaches staff concerning their work performance and development serving as a role model and mentor for them during their daily assignmentsholds staff accountable for performance and compliance with department and organizational initiativesSupervises staff work flow directing and assigning staff as needed to best meet the goals of the department Works with the Service Line Leaders to establish progressive goal completion for staff and will work with director to deliver annual reviews Physician Relationships Talks with surgeons daily to insure equipmentscheduling and staffing needs are being addressed Is the go to personfor the surgeon when he she has issues related to departmental operationsProductivity and QualityMonitors best practice in clinicalsafety and operational systems and coordinates process improvement initiatives to improve the surgery departmentIs knowledgeable and understand surgical standardspolicies and procedures and validate team members are following them appropriately Continually reviews staff processes and makes recommendations for change to ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care as well as Medicare Medicaid guidelines and JCAHO standards Collaborates with the Education Coordinator to identify and facilitate staff orientationeducation and in-services for departmentProfessionalism Contributes tocommunicates and is knowledgeable and supportive of the Organization sCo-Management s and Director s strategic goals and initiativesContributes to and supports administrative initiativesprograms and changes by facilitating discussion and requested productsAssists Service Line Leaders Resource staff in evaluation of surgeon requests for new instruments Assists where neededcontrol deskschedulingcirculating casesin addition to rotationAssists the OR Board Scheduler with daily specialty team assignmentsValidates and completes KRONOSWorks with Director to understand and support purchasing contractsinventory objectives and budgeting processesWorks with Service Line Leader and Resource staff and Billing Documentation specialist on preference cards and preference card changesCoordinates with ORSLCs regarding staff needsissueseducationetcActs as a liaison for nursing peer review and yearly peer evaluation follow up EducationRN with Bachelor s degree in Nursing or related fieldLicensureCurrent licensure to practice in the state of Nebraska as a Registered Nurse CPR certification and ACLS within 3 months of employmentExperienceThree years clinical experience in an operating room plus two years of
