The Functional Director is responsible for coordinating the design, build, testing, and maintenance of all aspects of the Epic applic! ation within their area of responsibility. Provides leadership to the respective work team, plans and manages the day-to-day activities of the application team including prioritization of work, resource coordination, and meeting plans. Ensures the timely resolution of issues and manages risks. Ensures the completion of high quality deliverables related to design, build, testing, training, and system activation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Understand the objectives for implementing the Epic EMR and the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help FHS maximize the benefits of the implementation.
Communicate and coordinate with business owners, end users, and other areas of the organization in the strategic design process and throughout the project to translate business/clinical requirements into processes and systems.
Effectively relates Epic to the existing systems and provides insight into forthcoming changes.
Wo! rk with the Directors of other application teams and technolog! y team to coordinate activities between the application team with other teams to integrate work and system design, build, testing, training, and go-live activities.
Advise project leaders on build recommendations based on system functionality and business/clinical owner and end user need.
Gain an in-depth understanding of the application system in order to perform design, build, and testing activity.
Conduct regular day-to-day communication with Epic's installation team, and work with the vendor and end users to tailor the system to the organization.
Coordinate with Epic and technical personnel to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement complex and enterprise-wide infrastructure technologies and application based installations while adhering to CHI or FHS policies.
Ensure documentation of internal procedures to use in conjunction with application.

Collaborate with the Project Office to maintain project work plan for respective team and ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
Collaborate with the Project Office to compile and report status of application team progress to Epic Program Director on a periodic basis.
Ensure deliverables are approved by the appropriate stakeholders and are completed in accordance with the plan.
Ensure completion and high quality of deliverables assigned to the team, including but not limited to design and build documentation, testing plans and scripts, training curriculum and activation plans.
Escalate non-resolved issues to the Epic Program Director
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Nursing, Healthcare Management, or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 4 years healthcare provider experience, preference for expe! rience in implementation of a Clinical or Revenue Cycle Information System, and/or working in healthcare operations.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in leading teams (15+ people)
Prior healthcare information system implementation experience
Well-versed in industry rules and regulations.
Ability to integrate process steps and coordinate across disciplines/departments and drive teams to decisions.
Must have demonstrated knowledge and/or skills in the following areas:
Strong functional understanding of inpatient clinic processes and their integration with other departments inside and out of the organization such as the Emergency Department and Surgery Departments Clinical Services, and community physicians and facilities.
Strong functional understanding of clinical departments including but not limited to Emergency, Surgery, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Therapies.
Managing teams that have designed, built, teste! d, and implemented healthcare information systems
