ACC Clerk (Surgical Services, Full time, Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm, 64 hours per pay period)

Description: Saint Francis Medical Center is currently seeking to employ ACC Clerk (Surgical Services, Full time, Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm, 64 hours per pay period) right now, this career will be placed in Nebraska. Responsible for computer scheduling of surgeries, answering telephone, relaying messages to and from physicians and operating rooms, preparing charts for surgical patients, maintaining reference and statistical files via computer, distributing surgical schedule, entering orders/charges via computer and ordering of office supp! lies.

Greets patients and guests, processes all outpa! tient and inpatient charges for surgery, short stay, therapy, pre-op, PACU and wound care, facilitates all change in admission status. Makes changes in MSM documentation as directed by the surgery clinical manager.

Essential Duties:
Schedules, prepares, maintains, and updates surgery schedule according to established guidelines as directed by the Surgery Director and distributes via computer.

Takes and relays messages via telephone for surgery area. Greets patients and family and directs to appropriate area.

Resolves and/or refers problems with family, physicians, and other departments (i.e., reason for delay, change in location, length of procedure).

Contacts physicians, ancillary departments as needed for the OR, Nursing Supervisor for room placement and Pharmacy needs.

Makes edits and minor programming changes in the MSM system such as changing and/or adding new OR records and making edits to the screens.

E! nters appropriate data for patients in Surgery and Anesthesia via computer. Updates and compiles statistical data as directed and maintains department computer reference files.

Organizes charts for inpatients. Assembles various chart packets as needed, orders forms and supplies for department.

Notifies surgeon and/or office of change in surgery schedule.

Checks charge sheets and corrects as needed then forwards via computer to Business Office. Assigns all charges, for all perioperate areas, as per schedule.

Communicates in-patient room placement for all heart catheterizations in patient Radiology and inpatient surgicals.

Qualifications

Education:
Ability to read and write English, comprehend and communicate complicated verbal instructions, basic arithmetic skills for supply ordering and statistical collection, as normally acquired through completion of high school.

Experience:
One to two ye! ars on-the-job experience in the medical field.

Knowledge of m! edical and surgical terminology and procedures as acquired by on-the-job training and/or post secondary education.

Computer knowledge in Word and Excel required with the ability to type at 35wpm from dictation via phone for computer scheduling to facilitate the customer.

Ability to use copy machine.

One to two years experience in customer service.

License/Certification:
None required.
