About the Operating Room (OR):
Number of OR Suites: 2 (one for surgical cases; one typically for scopes) Patient ratio: 1:1 Annual average patients/cases: 600 Number of professionals in dept.: 8 Support staff: 2 PRNs that are not coded to the OR department. Type of equipment/software used: Computerized Charting full time general surgeon and ortho surgeon. Types of surgeries include of lap choles, lap appys, breast biopsies, hernias, bowel resections, mastectomies, total joint replacements and trauma surgeries.

Responsibilities:
Circulating Registered Nurse is to provide and coordinate the care provided in the Operating Room to ensure safe, high quality care. The O.R. Circulator is accountable for and encourages high ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Circulating Registered Nurse position requires graduation from an accredited school of nursing and requires current license as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska. BLS certification required. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with BHS values, management expectations, and service standards. Must be able to work with others, maintain accurate records, effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and effectively carry out the nursing process. Must reside within 15-20 minutes driving distance from the hospital to meet emergency call requirements. Transportation to meet call requirements and must be flexible with scheduling and call requirements. Attends meetings, in-services and workshops for adequate certifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
OR experience preferred. Sedation experience preferred. Endocscopy experience preferred. Scrubbing experience also preferred. ACLS preferred. PALS preferred.
