PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Performs duties according to department specific expectations as identified and assigned. Specific expectations for Clinical Education and Quality Resource nurse are defined in the attached addendum.
2. ! Collaborates with physicians and staff in the review and updat! ing of physician¿s preference cards.
3. Meets with vendors and serves as a liaison between vendors, management and physicians.
4. Conducts inventory of specialty supplies on a bi-annual basis or as needed.
5. Serves as a clinical preceptor for staff being introduced to the specialty area providing them with clinical experiences that promotes growth and competency
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
Preferred:
Three years experience in perioperative nursing in Surgical Services or GI clinical setting.
Education / Licensure:Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current RN licensure in Nebraska or Iowa. Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so must be licensed in the state of residence.
Additional Requirements:
ACLS certification within six months of hire.
BLS is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include ! the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say ¿Professional Level-with AED¿, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Education
B.S.N. degree in nursing required.
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities
Nursing experience that has demonstrated teaching skills, leadership and teamwork qualities.
Knowledge of current nursing practices and trends in health care delivery related to perioperative nursing.
Knowledge of AORN & Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Assoc. (SGNA) standards, as appropriate.
Knowledge of department organization and structure.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards.
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communications
Computer skills
Able to work with different levels of educational background.
