Serve as the Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology within the Department of Surgery with the following major responsibilities:
- Develop and imp! lement a vision for growth and leadership to create a Division of Surgical Oncology that will be a model and integral part of the Cancer Center plans for the future.
- Lead the Division in its missions of patient care, teaching, and research as a part of the larger Department of Surgery.
- Recruit and retain outstanding faculty.
- Participate in the development and mentoring of junior faculty, residents and medical students.
- Develop, maintain and participate in a robust patient-centered clinical service covering all key aspects of Surgical Oncology that is recognized leader in surgical oncology care for the region.
- Maintain and develop the Division’s research program and obtain extramural funding.
- Create an atmosphere of positive and collaborative relationships with faculty, community surgeons, referring physicians, other healthcare providers and clinical enterprise leadership.
- Ensure quality improvement and outcome! s measurement efforts to maintain the highest level of care.
- Work in conjunction with the Chair to maintain a financially viable division.
