:

The House Supervisor (HS) is responsible for the coordination of the Medical Center environment in collaboration! with the Management Team. The House Supervisor assists the Directors in providing human and material resources and is responsible for the productivity of the team. The House Supervisor will serve as a resource person to the staff and physicians while managing the environment and contributing to the professional growth of staff. The House Supervisor acts as a communication link between the daily operations of the Medical Center Management Team. The House Supervisor will serve as a mentor specializing in problem solving skills.

Essential Duties

:

Coordinates Clinica! l Care:
Coordinating clinical care includes all activities related to providing care to the patients. Has knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of patient focused care as a modality for the delivery of health care. The House Supervisor collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Patient Care Coordinator, and/or Director as appropriate.

The House Supervisor is accountable for appropriate staffing and productivity of the nursing staff including overtime. The HS is responsible for the accuracy to the Care Value System record of the schedule of direct care givers. Responsible for bed placement, team assignments, initiates short-term availability and assists with scheduling of emergency surgeries on the off-shifts. Coordinates and assists in all emergencies. The House Supervisor serves as relief support to the Team Leader as needed.

Promotes continuity of care across the continuum of care as a proactive planner anticipating change and assuring! quality care.

Management of the Environment

The House Supervisor facilitates unit operations and has the authority to access resources and supplies/equipment/services as needed to provide patient care. Assure facilitation and provision of the following services: dietary, housekeeping, and materials.

Resource Person

Serves as a mentor for primary nurses and a resource for the Departments, patients, physicians and other members of the health care team. Has knowledge of each team member’s capabilities and limitations. Responds to press calls.

Clinical Care

Does not take a patient assignment, but maintains the ability to assist with direct patient care if needed.

Communications

Develops and maintains a relationship with the Patient Care Coordinator. Screens, makes appropriate calls and takes appropriate action in the Absence of the Patient Care Coordinator. Communicates information to the Director/SAM co! uncil/s.

Hospital and Unit Policies

Enforces unit and! hospital policies.

Leadership and professionalism

Facilitates a collaborative spirit assuring teamwork by providing direction to the staff as needed. Monitors performance of associates and assists with disciplinary events. Has input into staff evaluations and has the authority to provide clinical direction to staff.

Leads staffing meetings using Care Value System to promote balanced staffing, safe levels of nursing care and teamwork.

Qualifications

Education:
A graduate of an accredited school of nursing (AD, Diploma, Baccalaureate).

Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field desirable.

A BSN must be obtained within 5 years of hire.

Licensure/Certification:
Current Nebraska Registered Nurse license.

Experience/Pre-Requisites:
Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience required.

Ma! nagement experience preferred.

Possess critical thinking and communication skills.
