As our Legal Counsel, you will become part of a legal team of four strong professionals located in our offices, Fredericia, Dubai, and Panama City where we are looking to expand the legal team from two to three members. Your main responsibilities are to advise the group on a broad range of legal matters in relation to our corporate structure, contractual relations with customers and suppliers and insurance and handle administrative tasks related thereto for the group’s entities. You will provide essential support to our managers, thereby allowing them to focus on the strategic aspects of their work. You are expected to have a solid legal understanding, an analytical mind-set and to work methodically with high quality standards while always focusing on the commercial value of your advice.

In this role you will work very closely with the business, giving you the opportunity to see projects through with a focus on high performance and results. Therefore, it is important that taking ownership of projects and tasks comes naturally to you.

Areas of focus

  • Draft, amend, negotiate, and generally provide assistance in connection with the entering into and management of commercial contracts
  • Corporate law related matters
  • Coordinate tender activities and prepare and complete pre-qualification questionnaires, invitation to tenders and tender documents
  • Handle insurance related matters
  • Analyse various legal issues and provide ad hoc legal support to the organisation

Your professional skills

  • A Master of Laws degree
  • At least five years of post-qualification experience from a law firm or from a multinational company, preferably within the oil and shipping sectors.
  • Knowledge and experience with marine insurance, US maritime law and/or corporate law will be seen as an advantage.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish (Portuguese will be seen as an advantage)
  • IT proficient – experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc.)
