Description: Saint Francis Medical Center is looking of LPN or RN - (Surgery Clinic Nebraska Heart Instiute FT 80 hrs /2 weeks M-F right now, this vacancy will be placed in Nebraska. More details about this vacancy opportunity please read the description below. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs designated clerical and patient care activities according to ! established department policies, procedures and standards of practice to ensure patient physical and psychological well being.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1.Prepares patient for examination and/or treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs.

2.Locates surgical charts for physician or Mid-Level Provider appointments in office.

3.Checks loose filing for records of patients being seen by physicians or MLP.

4.Prepares surgical charts for physician or MLP appointments in office, satellite and out-state locations by locating and obtain all pertinent records, test and films. Notifies appropriate scheduler of missing tests necessary for appointment.

5.Maintains infection control information for hospitals as requested.

6.Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies, materials and cleanliness including wrapping and sterilizing reusable instruments. Prepares list of medical supplies as needed.

7.Prepares and ! maintains supplies and equipment used for treatments.

! 8.Performs electrocardiograms.

9.Assists in locating appropriate testing for following patients after MAZE procedures.

10.Assists in patient education and answers patient questions appropriately.

11.Maintains patient files, records and other information as required for the clinic. Screens phone calls and acts appropriately in emergency situation.

12.Documents pertinent patient information in medical records and maintains timely, complete documentation in other areas of record keeping.

13.Assists consulting physician as requested.

14.Screens and directs pharmaceutical representatives appropriately.

15.If certified or registered assists with patient medication refills.

16. Works with patients on the drug assistance program.

17. Maintains “Universal Precautions”.

18. Collects blood samples by veini-puncture and finger-stick.

Qualifications

K! NOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.Knowledge of general clinic practices and procedures.

2.Knowledge of medical skills and terminology as learned in accredited Medical Assistant program.

3.Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.

4.Ability to speak, read, understand and follow oral and written instruction in English.

5.Ability to perform computer tasks at a user level.

6.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

7.Ability to communicate with patients of all ages in a manner which promotes a comfortable environment.

8.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with physicians, co-workers and patients.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; or alternately one to two years prior on the job training and experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant is required. Certification or Regist! ration as a Medical Assistant also required. If not currently registered/certified, must obtain within one year of employment. BLS/CPR certification desired.
