Assist NHI physicians with surgeries and patient care. Cover call as needed.
Essential Duties:
1. Assist physicians with surgeries such as vein/artery harvest, first assist and closure.
2. Dictate histories and physicals (H&P's), discharge summaries, etc.
3. Pull chest tubes and drains from patients.
4. Coordinate activities of support staff and identify and recommend the need for additional personnel.
5. Cover call as needed.
6. Perform various floor duties as needed.
7. Collect data for special reports or surveys as requested.
8. Participates as a team member and providesleadership to colleagues, students and other team members to ensure that workloads are distributed fair and equal and that our number one goal of providing excellenceof service and care to our patients and their families is accomplished everyday.

10. Willingly shares and promotes expertise and t! eamwork with fellow members and assists in the orientation of new staff.
11. Consistently seeks ways to improve work procedures and methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the organization.
12. Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of surgical procedures.
2. Knowledge of general clinic practices and procedures.
3. Knowledge of medical skills and terminology as learned in accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.
4. Knowledge of medications and their possible effects on patients.
5. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
6. Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medications.
7. Skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
8. Skill in maintaining records and writing reports.
9. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and writt! en instruction.
10. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
11. Ability to communicate with patients of all ages in a manner which promotes a comfortable environment.
12. Ability to self-assess to continue to improve skills and knowledge in advance practice nursing.
13. Ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and act appropriately in all situations.
14. Ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality.
15. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with physicians, co-workers and patients.
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program or accredited physician assisting program required.
Prior surgical experience desired.
License/Certification:
1. Certification as an adult nurse practitioner, acute care nurse practitioner or family nurse practitioner or certification by the NCCPA as a physician a! ssistant required.
2. Current RN and APRN license or PA licens! e in Nebraska is required.
3. ACLS and BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
