RN Advanced Nurse Specialist
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 hour day shifts
Consults, leads and facilitates the nursing process and patient care activities for Alegent Health nursing. Educates nurs! ing staff members to assure clinical quality. May serve as adj! unct faculty at area nursing schools.
Collaborates with and/or participates in councils, committees and with peers to identify and facilitate the educational and clinical needs of the healthcare team. Provides strategic vision and direction for the advancement of nursing.
Uses advanced clinical knowledge and practice experience, research, critical thinking and leadership skills to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to promote quality care. Acknowledges and demonstrates the value of multicultural traditions.
Promotes continuity of care for referred high-risk clients along the entire continuum of care, including inpatient and community-based services. Consults with care providers regarding case management of complex patients to optimize outcomes.
Evaluates, communicates and utilizes current research findings in practice, education and consultation. Promotes wellness through development and participation of screening and educational pr! ograms. Participates in and/or leads research activities and clinical investigations.
Education / Licensure
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must have a current Registered Nurse License in Nebraska or Iowa. Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so license must be held in the state of your residence.Masters degree with a major in nursing within 12 months
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and ! Health Institute: ACLS, American College of Surgeons: ATLS (Advanced Tr! auma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician: ACLS
Preferred: Specialty certification.
Experience
Preferred: Minimum of three years of clinical practice as a registered nurse with one year experience in area of specialty.
Preferred: Experience as an advanced practice nurse. Leadership experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Skilled in oral and written communication, conflict resolution, time management, critical thinking and decision making. Ability to work as a member of a team. Possesses leadership qualities congruent with organizational philosophy. Knowledge of and ability to operate computer/CRT. Knowledge of and ability to operate all patient care equipment appropriate to division of care. Job requires continuous verbal communications skills. Job requires frequent reading skills and written communication skills.
