ABOUT THE POSITION: Evaluates and treats patients referred by a health care provider for occupational rehabilitation services. May assist in orienting new caregivers to the department. Assess daily and future needs of the department and address them. May assist in interviewing applicants for open positions within the department in accordance with established hiring policyESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assesses patient and determines treatment plan using approved evaluation documents. Screens patients to determine need for service. P! rovides practice in functional, homemaking skills, activities ! of daily living, splinting, wheelchair positioning, and transfer training. Understands and complies with universal precautions, safety and risk policies and procedures. Prepares necessary documentation including evaluations, progress notes, discharge notes, and billing in a timely manner according to company policy. Consults with members of the rehabilitation team to select treatment programs consistent with needs and capabilities of the individual and to coordinate comprehensive services delivery. Trains individuals in skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individual’s functional progress. Supervises treatment administered by COTAs and Rehab Technicians. Designs and constructs adaptive equipment for individuals and recommends adaptation of individual’s work-living environment to maximize independence. Establishes and directs group activities for patients in the skilled care unit. Evaluates swing bed patients for recreational activ! ities. Instructs staff and monitors program progress.
