Bowen & Briggs, Inc. is conducting the search for Director of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Fetal Care Center .
Children’s Hospital & Medical Center :
Children’s is a 145-bed non-profit organization, the only full-service pediatric center in Nebraska, with 370,000 annual visits. Children’s is the primary inpatient teaching site for the joint Creighton-Nebraska Universities Health Foundation pedia! trics residency program, and provides many other training prog! rams. Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery and Gastroenterology/GI Surgery were ranked in the top 50 children’s hospitals programs nationally by US News and World Report , 2013-14. Children’s was re-designated as a Magnet facility in 2011.
The Neonatal ICU and Fetal Care Center :
The Neonatal ICU is a Level IV Regional NICU with 40 licensed beds, located on two floors, offering high acuity care, including surgery and cardiac cases, and ECMO. The unit supports the Neonatal Transport Team, including air and ground transportation. The new Fetal Care Center at Children’s, in affiliation with Alegent Creighton Health, focuses on the coordination of care for babies diagnosed with complex congenital defects before birth. Current goals of the unit include: to be the recognized provider for all Level III and IV neonatal care, transported neonates and surgical care for neonates in the region; improve communication and collaboration of staff and all physicians interact! ing with these services; and shift the nursing culture to shared governance.
Respon s ibilities of the Director of Neonatal ICU and Fetal Care Center :
The Director reports to the Vice President, Patient Care Services/CNO and is supported by Clinical Nurse Coordinators; Fetal Care Center Coordinator; NNP Coordinator; Education Specialist and Lactation Specialist, with accountability for 101.5 FTEs. The Director’s key areas of responsibility are: directing and implementing the Patient Services Strategic Plan for NICU and FCC; continually assessing and improving performance of care and services provided; assuring empowered and engaged staff, and financial accountability.

Desired attributes of the Director include: the ability to relate well with and influence nurses, physicians and other disciplines; transformational leader to build a positive, growth culture in the d! epartment; and strong advocate for patient safety and quality. The Dire! ctor will empower the staff team, including RNs and NNPs, through shared governance . Must be an organized project manager and exceptional communicator. Candidates will have significant neonatal intensive care clinical experience and management experience. Familiarity with EPIC is ideal; experience planning a new unit would be helpful.
Required qualifications of the Neonatal ICU and Fetal Care Center :
BSN is required, along with a Master’s degree, and active/eligible Nebraska RN license.
